Intronis MSP Solutions Doubles New Code Test Coverage with Typemock

Six month study results in 93% user satisfaction rate of Typemock’s Isolator product.

Typemock announced the results of a six-month case study of the benefits of Typemock Isolator. The study was conducted by Intronis MSP Solutions – the single-source provider that delivers data protection and security solutions for businesses. Intronis found that unit testing with Typemock’s flagship product resulted in a doubling of new code test coverage.

Typemock Isolator mocks, or isolates, the code components which are not under test. This allows developers to easily construct test cases where the outcomes are the expected behavior and also expected exceptions for abnormal inputs. The result is more test cases covering a wider range of scenarios, leading to higher quality code leading in to QA.

Intronis MSP Solutions found that Typemock Isolator was able to powerfully isolate, fake, and inject objects. The consistent API can mock everything, including private and static methods and fields. Additionally, it allows users to write unit tests without having to change their code. Key findings of the study included 100% of code could be tested, zero bugs since implementation, an average 2-3 minute test writing time, and an 93% user satisfaction rate among Intronis developers.

Typemock was created in 2005 to help programmers become agile through easy unit testing.

Typemock’s mission of providing code integrity has helped thousands of users to speed up development cycles, create application confidence, reduce bug fix time, and deliver value faster.

This is achieved using Typemock Suggest, an artificial intelligence platform that generates suggestions to test the validity of code as it’s written. This powerful feature is the first of its kind to use static and dynamic analysis to suggest code that covers the parts and logic of any pre-existing code that does not have unit testing.

Intronis MSP Solutions provides security and data protection for businesses, delivered exclusively through the IT channel. Intronis enables MSPs to centrally deploy and manage a broad portfolio of services — protecting business-critical files, folders, email, applications, and servers, locally and in the cloud — through a rebrandable console that integrates with major RMM and PSA tools.

Andy Dennison, software engineer at Intronis, stated that “For me, the key point is that the current development practice is that all new code and bug fixes will be covered by Unit Tests. Mature testing frequently requires the power of Typemock. This was understood during tool selection and is the prime reason for buying the tool.”

“We are thrilled with the results of Intronis’ study,” said Eli Lopian, founder and CEO of Typemock. “It is overwhelmingly encouraging to see a positive result from thousands of hours of testing our product. Typemock is proud to be an instrumental part of the Intronis development structure.”
